FAQs

Conference Rooms

1. Do you have a conference room? Is it hourly or do you have packages?`

Each Venture X location is designed with several meeting rooms and conference rooms in a variety of sizes to suit the needs of any business. Every business owner, at some time, needs a meeting space that offers more privacy than a local coffee shop or the common areas at Venture X. Our conference rooms feature everything you need for presentations, team meetings, training sessions, and meetings with clients. These meeting rooms include super-fast Internet connections, access to business class copiers, printers, and scanners as well as state-of-the-art audio/visual presentation equipment and all materials needed to create a professional presentation without the worry of technical difficulties. Catering services are also available for meeting room and conference room gatherings. Contact local Community Managers for more information about having your meeting catered.

Private office memberships include some meeting room hours, with the benefit of reserving meeting rooms for additional hours at member rates. At Venture X, dedicated desk, shared desk, community, and virtual office members can reserve meeting rooms by the hour at member rates, as well. Conference rooms are also available to non-members at an hourly rate. Contact individual locations to request rate information and availability for meeting rooms.

Meeting room rentals should be centrally located and easy to get to with access to public transportation and/or parking available nearby or on-site. Meeting rooms should have an on-site contact person for the day of the meeting that can address any potential issues that may come up. The contact person could also help with greeting attendees and helping them navigate an unfamiliar space. Professional meeting rooms should feel open and inviting with windows that offer options for privacy, on the interior and exterior walls, if possible, so meeting attendees don’t feel cramped. Meeting rooms should have a professional atmosphere with ergonomic business furnishings and several high-tech tools available to facilitate speakers or presenters. These include fully-functioning audio-visual tools to facilitate glitch-free meetings such as interactive, high-def TVs, phones with conferencing tools, and reliable high-speed Internet as well as access to best-in-class business equipment including copiers, scanners, and printers. Meeting rooms need to be able to function for in-person as well as virtual meetings so proper lighting, cameras, and audio equipment need to be available. Easily accessible power outlets and charging stations for everyone attending the meeting should be available. Kitchen space with coffee, tea, and water available for meeting attendees and connections with an outside catering service being made available would be seen as a bonus. A professional meeting room should be selected according to the number of attendees that will be present and the activities that are planned for the meeting. Some groups may need space for breakout sessions so this should also be considered.

With locations around the country, Venture X has professional conference rooms that are fully equipped available in many sizes to suit your business’s needs. The cost to rent a small conference room at Venture X depends on the location of your meeting and whether or not you are a current Venture X member. Current Shared Desk, Dedicated Desk, and Private Office plans include a set number of conference room hours per month. For Community and Virtual Office plan members, conference room hours are available at discounted member rates. Non-members can rent a meeting and conference rooms at regular hourly rates at any location. Pricing for conference rooms varies by location but is competitive within each city or region. To learn more about the conference rooms available at Venture X, select a location on our website and scroll down to find pricing and capacity information for that location’s conference rooms. When you’re ready to reserve your conference room, you can do it online on the same page.

COVID-19

1. What measures has Venture X taken since the COVID-19 pandemic?
Venture X has always included cleaning services in its offering, but due to COVID-19, each location is now sanitizing all common areas frequently throughout the day. Disposable items (such as cups, flatware) are now available for use and seating has been arranged to allow for social distancing. Our locations are open and ready to help you grow your business in a safe, clean environment that you feel comfortable in. Please contact your community manager regarding any specific questions.
Yes, each location is sanitizing the shared desks after each use so you can be assured the desk is clean when you arrive. Choose a seat that is socially distant from another member and you are all set to get down to work.
Our Meeting Rooms are cleaned after each use. We now book meeting rooms with a 15 min gap to ensure time to clean
Offices in the post-COVID era will be in flux for a while. As businesses reopen completely, expect more hybrid schedules, as some workers will remain remote, and some will return to more spacious office environments with fewer people working at one time than before the pandemic. Some employers will likely opt for previously remote employees to come into the office on some days, working from home on some days, and working some days in flexible office spaces. For businesses who want workers to remain remote or work hybrid schedules, coworking spaces offer a way for businesses to cut overheads and allow more space for fewer employees at one time as continuing social distancing for employees who have not been vaccinated remains in place for a while. Traditional offices can take advantage of flexible office spaces for remote workers who need a professional office environment without the long commute into central office spaces, as they did before the pandemic. Businesses can join flexible office spaces, such as Venture X, so groups can meet in person to work on projects that cannot happen organically, via videoconferencing. Many businesses, looking to downsize, may move into smaller spaces to save money or may venture into the shared office space model at the Enterprise level. Anchoring flexible office spaces can afford larger businesses the opportunity to work in their own spaces and enjoy the energy and interaction of a shared office space community. At a time when the pandemic caused some businesses to close their doors completely, businesses can find commercial properties at great rates. Some businesses, during their restructuring phases, may work out of coworking spaces, to save money on lengthy commercial leases and overhead that comes with traditional office spaces. Shared office spaces will offer businesses and individuals more flexibility than ever before as we continue to recover from the pandemic. If your business is considering a coworking space as a viable office space solution in a post-COVID world, we invite you to take a virtual tour of Venture X spaces to get a feel for how our membership plans can work for you.

Membership

1. What does “flexible” mean as it relates to flexible office space?
In flexible office space terms, “flexible” refers to several things. In the big picture, flexible shared spaces offer members a choice of areas to work in, in Community areas (such as the lounge, dining areas, patios, etc.) as well as private spaces designated in membership agreements. Venture X’s membership contracts are based on monthly agreements allowing you to scale your business’s workspace to accommodate your business’s changing needs. Flexibility, in this case, means that you can add or remove community memberships for employees that only need to work occasionally, shared desk spaces for additional full-time workers, dedicated desk spaces for teams that need to work in a fixed spot every day, and/or additional private office spaces when your day-to-day business needs grow beyond your private office space and ongoing projects involve sensitive information that requires more privacy. All in all, this means that you can grow your business without feeling cramped in a traditional long-term commercial lease. “Flexible” in terms of shared office space also means that large companies and corporations can rent shared workspaces for remote teams and individuals, instead of spending money to open and operate regional offices. Some large businesses are finding the benefits of renting flexible shared spaces for remote teams outweigh the expense involved in flying employees in from remote locations and putting them up in hotels for weeks at a time. Instead, project managers from corporate locations can meet with remote teams in person or via virtual meetings in fully equipped on-site conference rooms. Additionally, Venture X members enjoy the flexibility of working at any Venture X location worldwide.

All Venture X locations offer flexible monthly terms – one of the main differences between traditional commercial office leases and shared office spaces/coworking models. Initially, after the Great Recession, small and medium-size businesses began to turn to flexible shared office spaces and coworking spaces as a way to minimize overhead costs of leasing, setting up, and maintaining their own office spaces. Traditional commercial office leases lock businesses into multi-year contracts and available commercial leases in reputable neighborhoods proved prohibitively expensive to startups and small- to medium-size businesses.

Additionally, flexible shared office spaces/coworking spaces grew in popularity due to the turnkey opportunities that allowed businesses to go to work with everything they needed during a workday, including some unique perks and amenities. This also allowed business owners to focus on their core business values, instead of wasting their talent’s valuable time on running and maintaining an office. Venture X’s flexible monthly terms allow growing companies to scale up from virtual office contracts and shared desk contracts for individual employees that need a place to work each day to dedicated desk contracts for teams that don’t need a lot of privacy or private office spaces for growing companies that need some privacy for sensitive operations. Venture X can accommodate any number of configurations for workspace needs as your company expands to its next level of success.

Corporations are taking advantage of Venture X’s flexible terms for remote workers to work each day and for teams working on a specific project for a specified amount of time. If your business involves a significant amount of traveling, Venture X offers members access to community areas in all locations worldwide to provide a proper place to work for a day or as long as your business keeps you on the road.

Venture X membership  agreements work on a flexible monthly basis. Depending on your business needs, you can opt for the plan that works for you now and change your membership agreement when your business begins to expand to its next level of success. It’s as simple as it sounds – no contracts or leases, you tell us what you need month to month.

A virtual office is defined as a membership plan within a coworking space that includes a professional business address. Having a business address gives members the ability to send and receive mail professionally as opposed to using their personal home address for their business, adding an air of professionalism to business endeavors. Virtual office plans are designed to meet the needs of businesses that don’t require an office setting every day, but desire a professional business presence for those times when they need to schedule client or even vendor meetings. This could be the perfect solution for those in industries such as photography, video production, blogging, real estate, programming, graphic design, law, and consulting, just to name of few. Some virtual office memberships serve to establish a presence for businesses in different markets in order for businesses to expand their brands to different geographical locales without the expense of renting or leasing office space when they don’t really need it yet. What sets a virtual office space apart from a PO Box or Mail Business Center is the ability to rent meeting rooms or conference rooms when needed for presentations or collaborations with others. Virtual office memberships at Venture X locations include access to meeting rooms at member rates for those times when it’s necessary to sit down and meet with clients in a professional space. Virtual office members can also purchase day pass access, at member rates, to common areas when needed.
If you need a professional mailing address, with mail handling services, but not a physical workspace, a virtual office plan at Venture X may be right for you. Virtual office plans are ideal for businesses that don’t actually need to set up an office to work in every day. Tech startups, freelancers, and some independent contractors, who do most of their business online, may not need to gather to work each day, but may need a professional setting in order to meet with clients and team members and a mailing address.

This gives them the prestige of an office with minimal cost while projecting their business in a professional light. For business professionals that work from home, a virtual office address separates your home address from your business address. Promoting a more professional profile for your business. Coworking is a business office  concept that combines the independence of working on your own with the more structured setting of a traditional office environment. Born in San Francisco in 2005, coworking is the brainchild of software engineer Brad Neuberg who was going through a rough financial patch and was trying to figure out what he wanted to do. Neuberg’s idea came about because he was looking to balance the feeling of freedom and independence when working by himself with the feeling of community and structure only attainable when working with others. His plan developed and the idea took off.

Coworking has gained popularity due to the inherent benefits of working in a group setting. It meets the needs of entrepreneurs, freelancers, tech startups, and other remote workers across countless industries who are looking to balance their workspaces with their home lives. A real benefit of Venture X coworking spaces is elimination of the distractions of working at home (i.e., dog barking, kids crying, TV playing in the background, etc.). In addition to working around like-minded professionals, Venture X coworking spaces offer a synergy sparked by community involvement and collaboration. The ability to network with others is a major draw for those who work out of a Venture X because they are able to bounce ideas off other professionals and have also found opportunities for growing their business through collaboration with fellow coworking professionals. According to a 2015 Harvard Business Review article, a majority of coworkers surveyed say coworking helps increase motivation and productivity, as well as increasing their social networking statuses. Venture X locations offer multiple membership plans to meet the needs of businesses at any stage of their development.

A coworking space is defined as a business office concept where independent contractors, freelancers, and businesses of all sizes work in the same location. Various businesses and individuals from different industries often share these flexible office spaces. The term “coworking space” was coined in 2005, by Brad Neuberg who started the coworking space movement in San Francisco. Coworking spaces evolved, partially as a reaction to the isolation experienced by telecommuters, entrepreneurs, tech startups, freelancers and other small- to medium-sized business owners who usually worked from home or a coffee shop. Coworking spaces meant fewer distractions and a better environment to focus on the necessary tasks. The flexible, monthly contracts appeal to individuals and companies who want to benefit from the synergy generated in a community environment of like-minded professionals that fosters networking and collaboration. Without a doubt, one of the most talked-about benefits of conducting business in a coworking space is the endless opportunities to network. Coworking space memberships at Venture X are structured on a monthly basis and include business-class printers and copiers, super-fast Internet, a professional business address where mail and packages can be received, along with a variety of amenities including complimentary coffee and water, community spaces, in addition to community managers who offer concierge-level assistance and many other benefits. Venture X coworking spaces have provided today’s business leaders an option to work remotely close to home or even a professional office space to work in while traveling to meet with clients and vendors in other cities. Contact your local Venture X to schedule a tour and learn about the perks of working at Venture X.
Coworking spaces started in 2005 as a response to the rising cost of office spaces meeting the need for remote workers, tech startups, freelancers, and other small businesses to share desk spaces and office spaces in a community setting. Since 2005, the popularity of coworking has literally changed the nature of the way people like to work. The potential for networking and collaboration built into the community atmosphere of coworking spaces helps to inspire members towards their professional goals. Studies have shown that working alongside other like-minded business professionals actually increases productivity, as well as contributing to a healthy work-life balance. With flexible monthly rates, members can move right in and get down to business without the expense to lease and outfit their own office spaces.

Shared office spaces are modeled on the concept of two or more businesses or individuals working in the same physical location at the same time. Synonymous with coworking spaces, shared office spaces started to gain popularity when a number of entrepreneurs, tech startups, small independent businesses and freelance professionals desired places to work that were separate from their home spaces. In the early 2000s, with commercial real estate lease prices rising rapidly in reputable neighborhoods, small businesses, startups, and freelance professionals welcomed the idea of working around other like-minded professionals.

Traditional office spaces lacked the community element that formed an integral part of what software engineer, Brad Neuberg coined as “coworking” for his San Francisco Coworking Company, in 2005. Neuberg’s idea of combining the freedom of working independently, as an entrepreneur, small business owner, or freelancer with the community feel of traditional office settings.

In addition to saving a considerable amount of money not needing to set up an office, with all of the technology, business machinery, and amenities required to do business, day-to-day, Venture X shared office space members can focus on their core business initiatives, developing new products or services, instead of wasting time running and maintaining an office. Visit Venture X locations in your area to schedule a tour of your new, favorite place to work.

The short answer is coworking can and does work for a variety of industries and postitions. More specifically, professionals from a vast array of industries, from individuals or freelancers to small- to medium-sized businesses to large companies are finding coworking to be a great solution for their needs. Large corporations are getting into the act, contracting coworking space companies, such as Venture X, to develop floors of business spaces, as well as entire buildings with the coworking community environment in their design. For the affordable rates of coworking space memberships, remote corporate teams can work together in well-appointed spaces for the length of a project or use the space as an office whenever needed. A diverse group of business professionals inhabit Venture X coworking spaces today. The popularity of coworking spaces is in part due to the different industries and businesses represented by a coworking space’s membership. Independent law firms and healthcare professionals share a workspace with tech and IT companies, marketing firms, freelance photographers, web designers, copywriters, and many other professionals. Fitness and healthcare publishers, along with independent financial services professionals, and restaurant owners also use coworking spaces. Schedule a tour of your Venture X location and learn more about who’s in it to win it in your community.

Coworking spaces function on a monthly membership basis. Businesses and individuals choose the type of membership that fits their business needs. For some professionals, such as tech startups and freelancers who don’t need a place to work every day, a plan that gives these members access to their coworking facility several times a week or month might be just the right plan. For others, who need a daily spot for work, away from their homes, a flexible monthly plan fits perfectly. For other teams that may need to work together in the same place each day for several months at a time, a dedicated space offers a semi-private work environment. For businesses that wish to rent an entire office they can lock, private offices are available. In some coworking spaces, larger companies can relocate their offices to an entire floor of a coworking space for the community benefits. These benefits range from attending the events hosted at your coworking company, cleaning and maintenance services, access to a network of members, as well as access to dining and community areas.

A flexible office refers to a private office space in a coworking/flexible shared office space business model. A flexible office is rented on a monthly membership basis by a business or an individual. This arrangement has become a game-changer for businesses who want to save money while growing their businesses by joining a flexible shared office space, rather than taking on the expense of lengthy commercial office leases and setting up their own offices. Flexible private office spaces, like all of the other flexible membership plans, give businesses turnkey solutions to workspaces that include everything businesses need to conduct business. Your private office space includes office equipment, high-speed Internet, along with all the coffee, tea, and filtered water you need or want for your business day. Flexible office plans also provide a sense of autonomy within the larger flexible space community. An optimal solution for growing businesses that want the energy and interaction flexible shared office spaces provide but also need the privacy of an enclosed space to work on projects containing sensitive information. Venture X’s flexible offices feature a lockable fully furnished office with three sound and visually insulated sides and a floor-to-ceiling glass wall that faces the community creating an open feeling. Flexible private offices can accommodate one to ten team members and include 24/7 secure accessibility. The term “shared office space” is almost interchangeable with coworking spaces. In fact, a lot of shared office spaces also offer dedicated desk and shared desk options, along with virtual office plans. The difference is that some shared office spaces are just that – A building with redundant spaces that can be rented out as private offices or workstations. Some shared office spaces are based on a membership plan and some rent by the hour. Member services depend largely on the company who rents out shared office spaces.
People thrive in coworking spaces for several reasons. First, most people working in coworking spaces are passionate about their businesses. Small- and medium-sized business owners looking to grow their businesses are also motivated about going to work in a place that they like. Coworking spaces, such as Venture X, are design-forward, upscale, well-furnished spaces, located in reputable neighborhoods near or in central business districts. People thrive in coworking spaces, with everything they need to work each day, including business class office machines, such as printers and copiers, coffee and water and the professional environment needed to conduct business. In addition to working at a shared desk space, dedicated desk space, or private office space, members also enjoy comfortable lounge and dining areas, in addition to outdoor patios and other spaces where they can work or take breaks during the day. The flexibility in when and where to work also inspires new ideas and keeps members engaged in growing their business. Coworking space members say their productivity increases when working around other business owners. The diverse collection of business owners in coworking spaces also creates a sense of belonging to a community that helps you grow your business through networking in your coworking community. Networking with other business owners can potentially lead to new ideas and collaboration, as well. Growing your own business in a coworking space also gives you access to a wealth of services, products, and human resources to draw from when needed. Freelancers, such as photographers, writers, marketers, and web designers can help upgrade your website, develop marketing initiatives, and contribute to other services that set your brand apart from others. When your business expands and needs more employees, you may be able to hire from within your coworking community, saving time in the vetting process. Professional people thrive in coworking spaces because they feel more in control than people who work in traditional office spaces. Ultimately, people enjoy working in coworking spaces because they like to go to work in a space they like to work in, around people who inspire them to do their best work, and where they feel like they belong to a community of like-minded professionals. If you are curious about whether or not you would thrive in a coworking space, try it out at your local Venture X – it’s that easy.
Coworking spaces work because business professionals, as well as most folks, work better in the company of other like-minded professionals than they do in isolation. In theory, coworking spaces developed out of the need for remote workers, tech startups, and other work-from-home professionals to separate their home lives from their work lives. In addition to relieving symptoms of isolation and improving work-life balance, business professionals who joined coworking spaces found that the energy and camaraderie of coworking spaces motivated them towards success more than working alone. A healthy competitive nature motivates some people to perform at a higher level when working alongside other business owners who are working towards the same goals. For many coworking members, feeling like part of a community adds value to their lives by improving their outlook on life. Many coworking business owners say they have increased the size of their networks exponentially due to the nature of coworking spaces. Some people feel more in control of their businesses in coworking spaces, rather than like a small cog in a big wheel in a traditional office space. Coworking space members stay engaged with growing their businesses more than employees in a traditional office space who sometimes feel detached from their part in a big picture.
A flexible workspace refers to coworking or shared office spaces where several freelancers, and startups, in addition to small, medium, and large established businesses share the same location as a place to grow their businesses. Flexible workspace membership plans are based on monthly contracts that members can modify monthly, depending on their business needs. The term flexible workspace also refers to the type of plan and space you contract for in your membership plan. For some people who need a place to work one day a week or once a month, shared desk spaces give a choice of a seat to work from at any open desk space in the Venture X community. In flexible workspaces, you’re not limited to your shared desk space, you have the option to work in the lounge and café area, as well as outdoors on patio spaces. As your business grows into its next phase of expansion, flexible monthly contracts make it easy to move up to a dedicated desk space, where you and your team work in the same space every day and then into a private office when needed. A flexible workspace also means that you can get right down to work each day with everything you need to work included in your membership plan, such as business class office equipment, high-speed Internet, and more, giving you the flexibility to focus on your core business values and leave managing your work area to your flexible workspace’s adept community managers. At Venture X, all members enjoy a vast array of perks that make working in the flexible workspace a real treat. If you need a flexible workspace that has like-minded professionals, consider Venture X. Part of the popularity of coworking spaces lies in a reaction to traditional office spaces by young people entering the workforce in the mid-nineties. As the number of tech startups, entrepreneurs, and small business owners increased, the need for affordable office spaces turned into the phenomenon we now know as coworking spaces. Coworking members are drawn to the creative, collaborative atmosphere, inherent in shared workspaces. Members gain exposure and form relationships in the community beyond the coworking space, finding it easier to establish their brands in the community, through these connections. Traditional office workers can become disenchanted with their work as it becomes too routine. Because coworking has been shown to increase productivity and spark the creative process, many corporations and large businesses are experimenting with changing up the day to day for better employee performance.

When working remotely became an option for some businesses, the idea of working at home seemed like the greatest idea ever because you could work at home – in your pajamas. Both contract workers and businesses liked the idea of saving money on setting up offices for in-house team members and team members liked saving money on business attire, lunches, and transportation. It worked until small business owners, freelancers, and tech startups realized that the distractions of a home-based office could keep you from growing your business. This, in combination with the lack of interacting with other businesspeople and feeling out of the professional community loop, led a lot of small business owners to establish a space away from their homes to work. Due to the expenses involved in leasing and outfitting office spaces in a good neighborhood, someone came up with the idea of sharing spaces and coworking provided affordable office spaces, working in a community of business professionals with the same goals of growing their success.

Coworking spaces are safe places to work. Many coworking spaces have security cameras installed in common areas and require a valid keycard to enter the space after hours. During regular business hours, Community Staff are typically in the common area to greet members and guests. Private office spaces within coworking spaces have a key so they can be locked as an added measure of precaution. Some coworking spaces are located within buildings that offer the added measure of security of a paid security guard on staff and some locations also offer storage lockers for their members. Most coworking systems have implemented some form of an alarm system to monitor motion sensors and the like.

In light of COVID-19, the question of safety at coworking spaces takes on a new light. Coworking spaces that follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines are deemed safe. With shared desk spaces arranged according to social distancing rules, at least 6 feet apart, and several private offices in the offing, coworking spaces with plenty of room for members to move around are considered safe, along with members and guests wearing face masks and washing their hands frequently. Many spaces have installed hand sanitizing stations in locations within the space and touchless entry for doors to common areas, elevators, and conference rooms.

Coworking spaces, such as Venture X, are sanitizing heavily trafficked hard surfaces several times a day in addition to requiring members to wear face coverings when in community spaces. Wearing face coverings in private offices when working alone is left up to the discretion of the coworking members. Venture X has eliminated frequently touched items like reusable coffee mugs, glassware, and utensils, opting for disposable drinkware and utensils.

Venture X has helped accommodate companies that want their employees to come back to work in person but whose employees still have safety concerns by offering private office spaces for individuals or teams, to keep employees together but not in a crowded space. Venture X also offers dedicated desks for teams that don’t need an office as well as Meeting Rooms at hourly rates for virtual or in-person meetings that require a professional setting. Conference rooms are thoroughly sanitized after each use. Coworking spaces also offer a virtual office plan that provides members with a prestigious professional address, along with mailing and package handling services. Virtual office spaces give you access to conference rooms at discounted member hourly rates, as well. Venture X offers flexible terms for temporary solutions, as a go-between for working from home and going back into the office. With all safety precautions in place, at Venture X, your safety is our priority as we follow the CDC and WHO’s practices by asking members to:

Wash hands frequently
Maintain social distancing
Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
Practice respiratory hygiene
Staying home if feeling sick
Covering coughs and sneezes
Wearing a face mask at all times in common areas
Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces often
If you have any questions about the safety measures taken at Venture X, please contact the Community Manager at your location.

In the modern world, there are various types of workspaces commonly found in businesses around the world. Traditional office settings have historically been the most common and accepted model for workspaces since companies started bringing employees into a central location to work. In this setting, employees are assigned an office, a cubicle, or some other space designated for them to work at daily. Working in departments, overseen by department heads, the workload of their particular departments is delegated to the team members in that department. The traditional office is still, by far, the most common of work environments but the rise of coworking has challenged the traditional office’s status quo since the early 2000s.

In 2005 and for the next several years, coworking spaces (also known as flexible workspaces) appealed to young entrepreneurs that wanted to start their own businesses working largely in the field of technology. Many entrepreneurs and tech startup companies saw coworking not only as an affordable alternative to leasing their own traditional office spaces but also as a creative community of diverse minds that sparked collaboration. Coworking allowed individuals and businesses to grow their businesses with the advantage of social networking built into the day-to-day model.

During and after the Great Recession, companies that were restructuring sought the flexible, monthly rentals at coworking spaces that also provided everything needed to do business every day, plus amenities such as complimentary coffee, tea, and water. And they also found a great use for dedicated desks, private offices, and meeting rooms within coworking spaces.

Virtual office plans at coworking spaces presented a great alternative to businesses that didn’t need a place to work from every day but wanted to take advantage of a professional business address and the mail services that virtual office plans offer. Virtual office plan members also benefit from access to meeting rooms at coworking spaces as well as the community of members. Virtual office plans also offer a way to test a particular locale to determine if the area is receptive to a business without the expense of building a new location and risking significant losses.

Just a few years later, many large companies started to see these benefits as something they should also take advantage of through Enterprise level memberships and they started using coworking spaces to bridge the gap between employees commuting into the office and remote workers. Indeed, they do. At a higher price than community desk spaces and dedicated desk options, coworking spaces have membership plans that can accommodate private offices. Some businesses move into private offices in coworking spaces and stay there. As your business grows and your needs change, some coworking spaces can accommodate your business with entire floors of buildings. At Venture X, we can accommodate companies that need entire buildings. Or, as part of our Enterprise plan, we work with you to design your facility, complete with all of the services and amenities available at our other locations.
A number of factors go into making a coworking space successful. A great location, usually in a business district or in downtown areas, is important. There are often a variety of dining, entertainment and shopping venues in the neighborhood. The coworking space itself needs to feel welcoming, stylish, and professional with comfortable reception and lounge areas that promote networking and collaboration. Another factor that makes a coworking space successful is that it features flexible, monthly memberships with a variety of different size workspaces available. Community workspace for traveling professionals who need a place to work while in town. Shared desks where members can choose any open space to set up shop for the day. Dedicated desks which are permanent, semi-private spaces, for full-time members. Private offices that offer a permanent working space that is fully equipped and lockable. A diverse community with a variety of businesses and individuals representing a broad spectrum of industries is also key to a successful coworking space. The community atmosphere offers opportunities for networking with like-minded professionals. Social events allow members to connect with one another. Ultimately, a successful coworking space offers concierge-level service from community managers and a variety of amenities such as complimentary coffee, tea and filtered water, along with super-fast Internet, business-class office machines, plus fully equipped conference rooms. Some plans include conference room hours with additional hours available at member pricing. At Venture X, we offer everything you need to start working to grow your business and more from the moment you become a member.
While the terms “flexible space” and “coworking” are often interchanged, there are differences in the setup, the vibe, and the way people work in these spaces. From the time coworking spaces started to catch on, after the 2007-2009 economic downturn, a certain electric energy coursed through coworking spaces, that sparked a sense of community, the collaborative spirit and a social networking aspect that appealed to many young entrepreneurs, tech startups, and other small companies looking to launch their innovative ventures. Many large tech companies, such as Instagram and Spotify, started in coworking spaces before they moved on to open their corporate headquarters. However, coworking spaces began to evolve as some small and medium companies grew into larger, established brands. Many companies that started in coworking spaces remained as they grew due to the flexibility of these spaces, the savings over operating their own offices, and the turnkey office concept. As businesses in coworking spaces grew, many moved into private office spaces or a hybrid of shared desk spaces and private office spaces. A professional atmosphere developed in these flexible, shared spaces where the community consisted of like-minded individuals and established small and medium businesses. The phrase, “flexible, shared office space” grew out of a need for upscale office spaces to distance themselves from the stigma associated with the general hipster party atmosphere that some coworking spaces modeled. When the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way everyone conducts business, Venture X locations continued to offer semi-private and private office spaces, in addition to more distanced spaces with room to grow and fewer direct interactions between members than the post-recession, pre-pandemic theory that promoted the idea of more people utilizing the same real estate.
The difference between Venture X and other coworking spaces is that Venture X communities tend to attract professionals that are focused on continued growth, rather than startups and entrepreneurial ventures that are considered social playgrounds for young entrepreneurs. This difference is attributed in part to the evolution of coworking spaces since 2005 when software engineer Brad Neuberg coined the term “coworking space” for his San Francisco Coworking Space at Spiral Muse. Neuberg wanted the “freedom and independence of working for myself along with the structure and community of working with others.” Originally, coworking spaces appealed to tech startups, independent contractors, and mostly millennial entrepreneurs, who rejected the idea of the traditional office space, in place of starting their own businesses. As the popularity of coworking spaces grew, this office model began to appeal to remote workers from a broad range of industries who felt isolated working from home and yearned for an improved life/work balance in their lives. Small businesses and startups working at venues such as Venture X realized that they could continue to grow their businesses in this upscale, boutique office environment due to the affordable, flexible monthly contracts and turnkey office model, in addition to the community connection inherent in coworking spaces. This paradigm shift for small- and medium-sized businesses to grow in place, as opposed to striking out on their own, strengthened community bonds and set a precedent for more sophisticated, flexible, shared office spaces tailored to a more established small- and medium-sized business membership. Today, as large companies and corporations are moving into coworking spaces at the Enterprise level, it’s conceivable that some of the small- and medium-sized businesses that have grown up in coworking spaces will want to move into an Enterprise agreement. Enterprise agreements allow large companies to span an entire floor of a coworking space or an entire building. Coworking can be the ideal professional solution for most businesses. Whether you need a full-time place for you and your staff to work in a private, lockable office or you need to meet once a week in a conference room setting or you just need a prestigious, professional address for your business, coworking spaces offer flexible monthly plans that can accommodate your needs. Large companies can also transition to a coworking space or use coworking spaces for their remote teams to work out of, instead of investing in a regional office lease that your company will be required to maintain for years despite economic downturns or growth beyond the boundaries of your leased space. Some coworking spaces cater to more of the social networking aspects of flexible, shared office space models that taunt the creative and collaborative nature of their spaces. Some of these types of coworking spaces have garnered coworking spaces a reputation as full-time hipster hangouts with numerous distractions that may be counteractive to growing a business. However, other coworking spaces, such as Venture X locations are designed to help grow your business, with flexible monthly contracts that save expanding companies the expense and time investment required to lease commercial spaces, in respectable neighborhoods. Long term commercial leases in respectable neighborhoods are reaching prohibitive levels, with significant labor and equipment overheads to maintain. Coworking spaces, such as Venture X offer well-appointed, contemporary office space surroundings, with an upscale boutique hotel lobby feel, and feature turnkey solutions that allow small- to medium-sized companies to focus on core company initiatives, such as product research and development, as well as data analysis and sales forecasts. Venture X also offers the perks to make your workday as comfortable as possible. Working among other business professionals facing similar challenges and triumphs, Venture X communities are geared towards your business exceeding its business goals, rather than fixating on the social aspects of coworking. That’s not to say that Venture X coworking spaces lack the community aspect of other coworking spaces, it’s merely that the focus is more on growing your business, than on the social aspect of your business. Our networking events and other community events allow you to connect with others with similar professional interests. If you’re looking for a professional office space solution for your business, we invite you to take a tour of a Venture X location near you.
